The NIH has recently blocked Chimera research and funding at major university centers. This appears to be driven by anti-science factions and animal rights groups who seem to be envisioning scenes from movies such as “Species” and “Alien Resurrection”. The upshot of this is the impedance of future development of chimeric organs for human transplantation. We cannot allow our noble profession of Biomedical Research, and our purpose, which is saving lives, to be obstructed by nuts, whether in the government or private sector. I would strongly encourage all of our readers to contact their elected officials.
